Asheville NC outage

October 4th, 2010

Our main site, netnibble.net, suffered an outage of approximately 80 minutes this morning due to a fibre fault close to the facility. The datacenter have issued the following preliminary report:

At 12:09AM our Atlanta secondary path went down for scheduled and anticipated maintenance that was slated to be non-customer impacting, however at 12:12AM our primary fiber to Atlanta and Ashburn went down as well, both served by a different provider. While service has been restored via Ashburn at this time, we are still investigating the additional outages and will update you as soon as we have further information.

No customers were affected as we (deliberately) host our site “off network”.

Service has now been restored.

Outage – GNAX data-center, Atlanta, Georgia

January 9th, 2008

We are experiencing a network/routing issue at the GNAX Atlanta data-center which is affecting all of the data-center.

Network technicians at the data-center are investigating, and we will update on this as soon as we have more information from them.

UPDATE: Network connections have been restored to GNAX data-center and all our web sites and other services are operating normally, although some other customers of the data-center are apparently still experiencing issues. We will be seeking a full explanation of the issues this morning, and details of what has been learned and implemented to avoid a recurrence, and will post a further update once we have this information.

Further updates regarding this incident will now be posted on our main blog at http://blog.netnibble.net

Network Issue – Atlanta 1 USA and Atlanta 2 USA

December 28th, 2007

We are getting reports that some users are unable to reach our servers in Atlanta USA. This issue appears to be isolated to those routing through the pccwbtn network. Our network engineers are looking into this and are working with the Admins of the upstream provider to get this resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience and assure you that we are all over this and will update this post as soon as we have more information.

UPDATE

The report is that this is the result of a massive DDoS on our upstream provider. They are working on mitigating the attack at this time. We will update this post as soon as we have more information.

UPDATE 2

This issue is now resolved. We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during this incident, which was outside of our control.

Network Outage – Atlanta 2

December 14th, 2007

Some network issues with an upstream provider at the Telx data-center in Atlanta caused 4 short breaks of service today, affecting our ATLAS server.

Atlas provides one of our monitoring services, back-up DNS and supplementary mail, so no customer web-sites were affected.
